Research - Soil Contamination and Cleanup

Soil contamination

I think this is a serious issue and because I will be growing plants and trees to add greenery to my site. In case the site will be use to grow fresh produce in the future, I think doing some basic research about this matter will help me plan head and especially we are looking at 100+ years into the future.

So if no action is taken, the chemical might affect my water resources and the site will be growing toxic produces.

Cleanup Options
  • Excavate soil and take it to s deposal site away from civiliasation
  • Aeration of soils in the site, but my cause air pollution
  • Thermal remediation by increasing subsurface temperatures
  • Bioremediation, through microbial digestion of chemicals
  • Phytoremediation, using plants (e.g. willow) to extract heavy metals
  • Mycoremediation, using fungus to metabolise contaminants and heavy metals
